At the beginning of August I didn't have a flag of the month to display on our front porch. But, I got one as a gift -- one that I'd been wanting for quite some time -- and it looks quite lovely. It even inspired us to put up black shutters along the front of the house as soon as we can find a spare minute or two to install them.

Flying on the flagpole this month is our red, white and blue windsock in honor of our nation's celebration of independence.

The flag of the month isn't quite a flag this month -- it's a windsock of sorts. A little sun for the summer -- as if we need the extra heat.

It pains me to say that we have had no flag on our front porch this month. I realized that over the weekend and it's just too late to put one up. Rats!!!

Opening day is right around the corner and to celebrate the return of the boys in butter and blue to Riverwalk Stadium, here is our flag of the month.

This one is more flag of the day than flag of the month. Birthdays are extra special days at our house and we celebrate inside and out. In honor of the birthday boy, this will fly on our front porch today. But check back soon for the flag of the month.

When we bought our house several years ago, one of the first things we did was put a flag pole holder on the front porch. We collected flags for different holidays, occasions, sports teams, etc., and the flag of the month was born. I let January slip by, but here's what's hanging on our porch this month.
