Updated my mp3 player before leaving for the beach. Added some Seether, Lady GaGa, Robin Thicke, Zac Brown Band, Jason Mraz, Nickelback and others. An odd mix, huh?

On Our Front Porch

It pains me to say that we have had no flag on our front porch this month. I realized that over the weekend and it's just too late to put one up. Rats!!!

Can't believe the kids are out for summer vacation (well, one is and the other gets out Thursday). I can remember counting down the days myself. But that was so I could just go to the beach, not plan the whole trip to the beach. And it meant being another year closer to graduation, not another year closer to having a child who is a high school graduate.

After the Nationwide Vote

I must say that tonight's American Idol finale was the best of all season-enders so far. If you missed it, you missed quite a show -- Rod Stewart, Kiss, Queen, Santana, Black Eyed Peas -- wow! And although I picked Danny and Adam as my favorites at the beginning of the season, I am so excited that Kris won!! He really started to shine as the season went on. Glad he came from behind and took the crown 'cause I can't stand when the judges are so blatantly in favor of and vocal about one particular contestant.

That being said, you'll definitely still find Adam's CD on my portable music device!

Southern Surprise

When I stopped by the Coffee Bean for my morning cuppa java (even though it is wierd buying a cup of coffee at the snow cone place, I just find it too difficult to go next door to Krispy Kreme and come out with only a cup of coffee), I ordered my usual large coffee, two Splendas. Well, the girl must have poured from the wrong pot 'cause when I took my first sip, I discovered the heavenly taste of Southern Pecan coffee...what a nice surprise!

What I Learned from My Son Today

Life is just too dang short to let others mess up your day. Thanks, Cody, for reminding me of that and for reminding me that the whole world doesn't see things, and therefore, doesn't react, the same way I do. Proud of you, man!
